Moldings

A previous owner of my house removed the original moldings that were on the stairs (oak). I have replace most of it. However, one of the stairs is curved.

How can I get a piece of oak molding to curve slightly? The total piece of molding is about 32 inches long, and curves at about the 27 inch point.

the only way i know of to bend oak is in a steam box. Steaming the oak 1 hour per inch thickness in heavy steam and bending immediately when removing and, putting it in a jig to dry with correct curvature.
But bending a 32 inch piece at twenty seven inches is too close to the end I think it's impossible.
