Radiant ceiling heat

I have 1960's radiant ceiling heat and I am trying to swag a light fixture whick involves puncturing the drywall. I have been told that if you hit one wire your whole heating system breaks! I have tried a voltage detactor to locate the wires I need to avoid but they are too sensitive....any ideas? Thanks.

Why not epoxy a hanger onto the ceiling. It would be cheaper than ruining the heating system.
