when you have to but 2 sheets of drywall together , the ends that have no taper, how do you mud it and not have a hump?

Apply first coat of mud, with a ten inch knife, to both sides of joint. Apply second coat with a twelve inch knife. What you are doing is bringing the wall out to meet the hump and feathering it out. You're completed finished joint will be about 26" wide.
