Horizotial Vs. Vertical Sheetrock
I live in Texas and around here I have seen most sheetrock installed vertically. However, when I look up sheetrock sites on the web, they install it horizontally. Is there any benefit to either way. I will be going with a smooth finish, so I would prefer the best way to make that look nice. Also I have a pier and beam house (we live in an area of shrink swell soils).

Textured (popcorn) Ceiling
We have been in our home for about a year now, and the textured ceiling is breaking loose, and has actually peeled away in many areas. This mainly occurs during painting or any moist areas of the home. I have since discovered that this ceiling texture was done as a "cover-up". I would like to take it down, and can't seem to find the proper chemicals to do so with.. I saw it done on a "Home Savvy" show one time, but didn't think to make note of the name. Can anyone help with this product? I simply don't want to paint it all off, LOL.
