Daps,

There are a couple of ways, but the most parctical is to first apply furring (1x2 or 2x2's, etc)of some kind to the brick wall on 16" or 24" centers. This can be labor intensive if using concrete screws or something similar. You can rent powder actuated tools at a rental center. With these, the fasteners are shot into the wall much like a gun shots. Apply the drywall to the furring. Usually some type of insulation is applied between the furring.

Non-bearing partition walls can also be made. This is where a "false wall" is made away from the brick. Much like constructing a wall, but all the structural properties are left with the bearing wall. Don C
