How to attach a 2x4 to a wall
I want to attach about 10 foot long 2x4's horizontally to my wall.
I do not want brackets showing. How can I do this securely. I need to do it in several areas of my house. These will be used for decoration. How can I do it.
Thanks.

If you don't have a real old home, the wall studs should be on 16" centers.
You can locate the studs with a magnetic stud finder (nails), and nail the 2X4s to them with finishing nails sunken with a nail punch and hidden with wood putty, or drill thorugh the 2X4s, screw them to the studs, and plug the screw holes with wooden dowel plugs, and sand, paint or stain to suit.
Good Luck!

this way looks great
I used round cedar fence posts on my ceiling. What I did was counter sunk screws through the posts into the ceiling joists. Then for looks I used railroad spikes and cut them short and hammered them in behind the screw for decoration. looks great. Paint the spikes with black tremclad.
