vinyl siding
hello,
i want to add a door to my workshop. the building is covered with vinyl siding, and i'm wondering how do i get the j-channel on to cover the edges of the siding that will be exposed after the hole is cut. any tips, tricks, or info will be greatly appreciated.

I carefully measure & mark where the rough out for the door will go, then use a reversed fine toothed blade in my circle saw set just deep enough to go thru the siding. Once you've cut thru the siding, remove the cut-out pieces of siding, & use a saw-saw to finish opening up your rough-out. Then do your framing and install your door. Your siding around the outside of the doorway will be loose so you can just hold it out of the way while you install the j-channel. I've done a few this way with good results.
