powder drywall shrinkage

I have been told that powder drywall mix has more shrinkage than pre-mixed. I would think that depends on the amount of water added. Comments?

It is supposed to shrink less. And I think it does.

coops is right it has less not more, that's why it's always used for pre-fill

Fancy drop ceilings, like Armstrong HomeStyle

I am finishing my basement with a drop ceiling. I am ready to install the ceilling, but received sticker shock when I saw the price it would be for the fancy 2x2 ft ceiling panels. These have a lowered square in each 1x1 ft square. It was going to be $1000 for just this material, (not including the metal strips, etc). Can anyone recommend a similar product, (or web site)? The house is too nice to go with the plain panels.Read More
