unfinished daylight basement walls

Right now my daylight basement is studs, insulation, and vapor barrior. I want to finish the lower half of the walls with a maple plywood, and upper half with drywall. I'm planning to finish the plywood seams with 1/2" by 3" maple boards. What is the best way to attach the plywood to the studs?

The best way is with 2 1/2 inch finish nails and a nail gun. You are staining the paneling right? then cover the nail holes with colored putty.
