I'm remodeling my kitchen and think that I should replace the drywall.

After I tear out the old cabinets, remove the textured mud, paneling, chair rail and wall paper, I'm pretty sure that my walls are going to be in bad shape. Either I repair everything, after which I'm not sure it will look OK, or I remove the drywall and slats and plaster and start from the bare studs. Also, my ceiling which is plaster has large holes and cracks in it. Sheesh, it sounds like I live in a hovel.

Any opinions?

I say rip it all out. That way you know exactly what you are dealing with. You won't have any suprises. Plus everything will be brand new when finished.
