Question Tape water resistant sheetrock?

I am installing w/r sheetrock around my tub. It will be covered by a plastic/fiberglass tub surround.

I have read that I should NOT apply joint compound to the seams as the joint compound will draw moisture along the sides of the sheetrock causing it to deteriorate. But leaving an unfinished seam sounds like a really bad idea, and I've also read that w/r sheetrock seams should be taped and compounded the same as regular sheetrock.

What say the experts?

Taped and Finished

Moisture Resistant drywall should be taped and finished just like any other type.

If you are putting a water tight surround over it then no need to do anything.
