weight bearing wall

I have a basement and want to open it up. I have a weight bearing wall that runs through part of what I want to open. The basement length is aprox.30-35'. The length that is in my way is about 8-10'. Is it possible to romove this section and replace it with a steel beam. I would want to try to put it up into the floor joists so it does not hang below the ceiling.

hi
You can check your local building inspector to have the size of beam you might need.
I'm sorry to say but the beam must be below the joist to support the floor.

good luck
