ceiling tiles w/out furring strips

First, I have a very low skill level. That said, the man at Lowe's told me I could simply use a staple gun to attach the 1'x1' tile to the ceiling. He didn't say that I had to use furring strips or adhesive. My ceiling is nice and flat and the room is small (3 ft by 7 ft). I want to do this in the easiest way possible. Can I do it this way, or do I need to use furring strips? Thanks.

Make sure that your layout is square and balanced. I would use four small spots of adhesive per tile and an electric brad nialer. Drive the brads in at an angle to resist pullout.
