Unhappy removing panelling glue

can anyone help? After removing woodchip from lounge walls, I have come to a stand still. There are large patches of what looks like resin (from wood panelling I presume) all over 1 wall, and no amount of sanding will shift it - HELP!!

Best bet would probably be to try using a heat gun to heat of the glue and then scrape the glue off the wall.
