what's the going rate of drywall in your area?

Let's say I have 500 sq ft of area to cover with drywall, 8ft walls. What would a job like that run in your area, considering labor and materials?

funny you should ask.
i was just going to post the same...

my cottage is 20x30x8 and was estimated at approximately 60 sheets.

so for 60 sheets, 3 layers of mud & 3 sandings the guy was looking to get
$4,000.00!

$4000 is cheap if you've ever tried to drywall yourself. Don't knock the price until you've dealt with moving around 60 sheets of drywall, hanging, mudding, and sanding them. If you were to take the job on yourself, at the end you would of said "$4000 would have been cheap if had hired it done". I'm just finishing up drywalling my house, which required about 70 sheets and 30 gallons of mud. It's the most miseral job I've ever done... I'll never tackle drywall again. Sorry, just bitter because drywall is not a fun job at all
