Asbestos in plaster?

I am plaaning on knocking out a section of an old plaster wall to create an interior arched 'window' I jusr read somewhere that much of the old plaster has asbestos in it. I know the only way to know for sure is to have it tested but I was wondering if anyone had any experience in dealing with this type of thing.

Thanks

I had the same concern and took the plaster for testing, which thankfully revealed no asbestos. Testing is not terribly expensive and I think the peace of mind is worth it. Removing plaster raises a lot of dust, and you and anyone else in the house will breathe that dust.
