Cut edge meeting beveled edge on drywall?

Cut edge meeting beveled edge on drywall?
I have been finishing my basement and am haning drywall.
When doing the ceiling I have a few places where I changed the direction of the drywall to simplify hanging and save sheets of drywall.
This means I have cut edges next to beveled edges.
I figure I can just fill in the bevel with mud and it shouldn't be a problem - at least I am hoping....
Is this a horrible thing to do?
Am I going to have issues?
If this is ok what is the best way to approach the taping?
Should I fill in the bevel and then let it dry and then tape normally, or can I just spread mud and set the tape like a normal joint?
Thanks
Cade
