sagging ceiling rock

50's raised house and have a couple of areas where the ceiling is sagging. What I was thinking is, use a couple of 2x4s and make a T. Then press the T up against the ceiling and wedge it against the floor and screw the rock back in place. Do you think this is an effective way or is there something better?

Thanks

That's the plan of attack I would use.... Realizing, of course, that you're probably going to end up patching portions of your ceiling after the nails pop their nasty little heads through......

Make sure you're supporting with your T perpendicular to the ceiling joists.... Hate for you to possibly push it through the ceiling....

Sounds like a plan. If the sheetrock is still sound it should work. You will likely have to make minor repairs to the ceiling when done, just be carefull or you might wind up with major repairs
