Basement Bathroom Ceiling

I have a suspended ceiling in my basement bathroom, which is 4 ft x 8 ft in size. The ceiling panels are white plastic to allow light from the 3 flouresent lights installed above the ceiling. I want to replace the white channels used to hold the panels because over the years they have started to rust from the shower steam. I was thinking of using pre-stained wood moulding instead of the aluminum channels. Has anyone else used an alternative similar to this or maybe has suggestions?

Thanks.

Don't know how you would suspend them and make them fit the panels

But the idea sounds pretty nice... Good luck!
