Ceiling Tape Separating

In several places through out the home the tape on the seam of the cathedral ceiling is separating from the sheet rock. The longest stretch is around 2 feet. Is there any quick repair for this or do I need to cut the old out and replace it?
Thanks.

You need to cut out the old and replace it. Coating over flapping tape will only make joint coumpound coated flapping tape.

If you use flex-tape and easy-sand it will be a lot stronger.

I hope this helps.
