drywall outside corner

when you apply the compound on a outside corner should the metal bead on the corner be seen or do you build up enough that u sand a corner on. im talking about the exact corner i understand that u cover the metal that runs on the wall

You should hold your 8" knife on the bead itself, overhanging 1 or 2" off the corner, and let the other edge touch the wall (giving a 6-7" feather from the bead into the wall.)

The outside edge is actually your guide. When you sand, you should see the metal beaded edge, (although you should only be sanding crumbs off of the bead because you held the knife tight to it when you coated it.)

I hope this helps.
