backing for cedar?

I am using tongue and groove cedar (1/4 inch thick). Can I nail it on the studs without the cedar getting wavy on me or warping? Would it be best to put up some sort of backing first? 1/4 plywood? and them the cedar on top? thanks

or osb. anything thinner than 3/8" won't prevent any warping/buckling.
