installing wallboard, newbi DIY!!

we are getting ready to install wall board. the sheets are 8x4, but the height of the room is 8ft 6in.
What is the best way to deal with this?
Or if they come in larger sizes should we retiurn these and get larger ones?

You can get 54" wide drywall, you will probably have to go to a drywall supply store to get it. Install the drywall horizontally [one 48" and one 54"]

If for some reason you can't get any 54" drywall, use a 6" ripper in the middle unless you intend to have tall enough base to cover the ripper at the bottom.

btw - it is best to have a 1/2" gap at the floor - prevents any moisture spilled on the floor from being wicked up by the drywall.

The same supplier that will have 54" board, will also have 9' board. Remove 6.5" and hang vertical.
