Inside Corners...again.

I know I'm gonna catch sh^$ for this, but...is it possible to use latex caulk in the corners instead of tape and mud? I can't stand doing inside corners. It takes as much time to the the corners as it does the rest of the room. Okay....let me have it. =)

Talking

You could caulk them now, then again next week and the week after. And in a month from now because the caulk will shrink and crack. Then you can re paint your room every time! That might be a bit of an exaggeration but taping the corners will not only look the best but last the longest. Whats the problem you have taping the corners?? Maybe we can give you a few tips to help speed it up.

I agree with coops. I have used caulking a time or two where the finisher failed [or maybe wasn't paid to] completely finish a garage or storage area. Paper tape and j/c will look better both short run and long!

I just hate doing corners. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet.

Most problems with doing corners are caused by having wet mud on both sides. Easy fix - do 1 side at a time. You can also get a corner trowel/knife - I've never used one but some swear by them.

The corner trowel is set at about 100 degrees so you have to flex it to get a 90 degree inside corner. This helps flex the mud into the tape. It is a great tool, and I wouldn't do corners without one. The second and third coat if necessary will be applied with a 9" knife on each side, as you have already formed the corner with the corner trowel, and you will want to get the sides blended.

Finished

Here's the finshed product. Thanks for talking me into doing the corners right. They turned out pretty good.
