Removing Fake Brick

Does anyone know a good technique for removing fake brick? It's about 1/4 inch thick with some type of black morter holding it on the wall. I pry a piece off with a hammer and chisel last night and a good bit of plaster came with it. Is there anyway to avoid ripping chunks of plaster off with each brick? Thanks

Unfortunately, if there is an easier way, i haven't found it. It might just be easier to cut the whole section of plaster out, replace with similiar thickness drywall and use compound to transitiion it back to plaster (or just cover it up with new drywall if you are talking about an entire wall). That is what i had to do.

Z-brick should be banned from existence.

Ha Ha, that and wall paper! The brick is in between my kitchen cabinets and we are in the planning stages of remodeling the kitchen so I'm just trying to get a handle on things if I can do this or most of it myself.

Been there, done that.

Shudder.

I had the damned stuff on two walls.

We ripped down to the studs; this was a blessing, because it exposed an extra three inches, just enough to turn my wet pantry into a galley kitchen.
