wallpaper woes

In the process of removing wallpaper with a streamer (too much water), I've made a pretty big mess of my drywall. My husband is re-mudding but the paper keeps pulling off the drywall. Would texturing be a better solution? Is it something a novice could do? Hubby is okay as a DIYer but this is my "little" project. Thanks for your comments!

Probably your best bet is to replace the rock. Short of that, peel off all the loose paper and prime with Zinsser Gardz before applying joint compound.

If the paper face is bubbling or coming off the drywall you must prime with either gardz or an oil base primer! It is the only way to garuntee a successfull repair.
