Drop ceiling install with crown molding, perimeter supports?

If I am installing crown molding along with my drop ceiling, do I still need to use the drop ceiling perimeter supports, or will the crown molding take the place of that?

Thank you!

I think either way will work. My only concern would be if the crown is not perfectly level the ceiling might have visible gaps. I think it would be easier to install the metal perimeter and then place the moulding, especially if the trim is stained.

I would think it would be easier/better to install the crown after the ceiling is up. Hopefully you could keep the gap between the crown and ceilings panels to a minimum.

Whether painting nor staining, it would be easier/quicker to apply all coats except the final one to the crown before installation.

Doesn't necessarily need the wall channel... but I'd install the crown first (nail the crown up through the metal tracks, then clinch the nails over) and then lay the ceiling in.
