Question Wall over ceramic tile?

Hello. We are in the process of buying a home that started out life in 1975 as a small 2 bed/1 bath home here in Phoenix. Well, the previous owners decided to enlarge it into a 3 bed/2 bath home with a big master bedroom. They got as far as putting in the addition, complete with plumbing. They put ceramic tile in the new master bedroom/bathroom, but they did not put a dividing wall and door in to separate the master bedroom from the master bathroom. Now it's going to be our job. I wanted to know if we will be able to put the framing down for the new wall over the ceramic tile without removing it. The ceramic tile looks great and I would hate to take it out to put the wall up, then have to replace (or patch) the flooring.

Happy New Year, everyone! Beer 4U2

I wouldn't remove the tile either. I would lay the bottom plate (2x4) in position and drill with a masonry drill bit through the wood and the tile. Insert anchors in the tile and screw the plate to the floor.
