drywall cost per sq feet

Is there $ amount I can figure out what I should pay for for drywall material and installation? I know the local charge is about $30 per sheet for labor (installed and tape). I was just trying to get an idea based on per sq. feet I can expect to pay for drywall installed.

thanks

In most areas the drywall work is priced by the board. This also includes the scrap pieces. Drywall hanging is often done by a different crew than the finishers. It shouldn't be too hard to get a hang only estimate/bid - if that's what you are wanting.

Small jobs are usually priced by the job - it takes just as long to drive to, set up, clean up and leave a small job as it does a big job.

My last job was 4 years ago and it was bid at $12 to hang and $12 to tape, but that was 4'x12' sheets and a 16' ceiling. Calculate your area and allow 20% for waste. A DIY will waste less, but most drywallers don't want to fuss with salvage.. I think I was trying to prove I was still young, so I hung and taped it myself. 10,000 sq ft of 5/8". But I had the time and a lift. Would I do it again NO!

Different areas and different prices and my job was 4 years ago. Right now I would think you could find someone to work at a lot less, they are hungry.

thanks

Ok, thanks. the $30 was to hang and tape. I am not intested in doing either, just trying to get an idea for a rough estimate. Someone can come in and bid later.

thanks

LOL 30 a sheet. That will only cover labour and screws at best, and thats if i pick up a good day labourer. Im not gonna say what i charge for a supply and install but i will tell you that number is quite low.

Figure out how many 4'x12' boards the job will take. Be sure to figure in extra boards for waste.

Per board costs typically don't include the cost of the drywall.

$30

The $30 was for labor only per sheet (hang and tape). The materials were extra.

thanks
