What kind of drywall texture is this?

Hi there! I'm starting to do some work to my 1960 ranch style home in Dallas and I've done hours of research about drywall texture styles and now I know how to do pretty much every method except what I have.

Here is a picture of my wall.

(if the picture doesn't show up, go here.)

The closest thing I can guess is perlite, but it's not quite it-- I've been surprised that I can find it as I feel like most houses from the era share this type of texture.

Any ideas? Thanks!!

hard to tell the size of the protrusion but it almost looks simply like an extremely thick coat of paint put on with a roller or thinned drywall mud rolled on and then painted.

there you go. A sand finish with lots of paint on top of it. It looks like my dads house which started with sand texture plaster. After 40 years of paint, it looks a lot like what is in the picture.
