ceiling with cracks

We have ceilings that have designs on them. I do not know what this is called. It looks like someone used a trowel and made very nice designs. Each room is different.

Our problem is that with the years, the ceilings in 2 of our rooms have developed cracks. Is there any way to repair the cracks without ruining the design? I have pictures but I can't seem to figure out how to get them in this post. The house is 30 years old.

Nope. You can put caulking in the crack, but it will show. One of these? PICTURES OF VARIOUS DRYWALL TEXTURES

Thanks Gary,

One of the ceilings looks like the "mud swirl" and another room looks like the "sand swirl." Each room is different.

Plaster coved ceiling

I have plaster coved ceilings, and the previous owner of the house put wallpaper up to cover some cracks and chipping. The cove has a quarter inch lip on the ceiling and wall. I know the easiest thing to do is to put sheetrock up over the plaster, but that will mess up the lip. I am affraid that if I try to remove the plaster I will damage the cove. Does anyone have any suggestions or alternatives that I haven't thought of?

I am a bit confused reading other peoples posts related to walls in a garage. What is the proper material to use for an attached garage? OSB, sheetrock or drywall? It looks like the wall on the house side is already drywalled(to meet fire code I guess). Does this mean I need to drywall the entire garage? Also, need some advice on the attic space in the garage. Will 10 4x8 sheets of 7/16 OSB work or should I get 1/2 OSB? Do I put the OSB above or below the chords? I plan on drywalling the ceiling below the chords. Is this the best thing to do or do i need sheetrock? Not sure what all the fuss is about sheetrock?? Why why would you put it in a garage? What are the pros and con? Is it needed for NFPA code?
