I have an odd problem

I have a wall in my home where the studs have been turned 90 degrees, so instead of being 3.5" thick it is only 1.5" thick. does anyone have any tips for installing gang boxes with half as much space? do i simply cut the gang box in half? thanks, in advance.

Never cut an electrical box. They do make shallow wall boxes. I don't know if they would fit into a 1 1/2" space though. What are you trying to install?

You can buy gang boxes as shallow as 25mm..... but i cant see why you are worried about space in the wall unless you are trying to fit light switches back to back on the wall in the same spot (one either side of the wall).... Hope this helps..

It wont work because a normal gang box is much deeper than an 1 1/2" also because i have three switches it would need to be a triple shallow gang box(which i cant find).
