How to Install/Repair Ceiling Tile damaged by 'Ice-Dam' in the Roof?

Hi All:
There are several Ceiling-tiles damaged by 'ice-dam' developed in the roof of my family room. This occurred all after unusual and massive snow storm in the past week.

Fortunately, I found exact ceiling tiles in the Lowe's, which is 12" x 12" x 1/2" Washable White Tile made by Armstrong.

The store-clerk told me 'it's not hard to install' since there are only few spots to cover and repair. He also instructed me 'just squeeze White Tile into each 'groove' in the ceiling. When I tried to repair few spots, however white tile does not go into all of four grooves even though it's an exact dimension.

I'd be truly appreciated it if any of you have any clues, 'How to install/repair 12" x 12" 1/2" White Tile.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm sure it's not the right way to do it but I've had to trim those things. You can always caulk to hide mistakes.
