bathroom drywall

I am renovating my bathroom using a solid surface shower. Is the best thing to use cement board at the shower and purple board everywhere else includin the ceiling?

Im not sure what you mean by solid surface shower. Do you mean a preformed acyrlic or fiberglass shower. If so, then you dont need anything behind it, it cant get installed right to the studs. and purple board, i always call it green board. That should go in the ceiling of the shower and you can also put it behind the sink for good measure.

well, i would do whatever the manufacture recommends, but i think that becuase these are sold as easy replacement and upgrades to older acrylic and fiberglass enclosures, i would say that it can be installed right to the studs. But thinking about it some more, i guess it needs to be glued into place, so sheetrock would work well too.
