exposed paper tape during sanding--can I prime it

I sanded a little too far in a few high spots on some of my butt joints in the newly sheetrocked ceiling. They are small spots like a nickel or so in size.

Can I go ahead and prime over this? Will I see a big difference in the surface if I do this? Or do I need to apply another layer of mud, let it dry, sand again, etc. before I can prime?

Thanks!

Prime it, see how it looks. You can always put another coat of compound if necessary.

I would definitely apply more mud.

If the tape has 'fuzzed' up some you'll need to cover it with mud, otherwise primer might be ok.

Just remember anything you see with primer on is going to be even more obvious with paint on the wall - if the surface is any different, you're going to notice it

Myself, I'd apply more mud but it may work out just to go ahead and prime it

Thanks, everyone!

I went ahead and covered it again with a thin layer of mud. Better safe than sorry. Ceilings are a pain in the butt and I don't want to re-do anything later after it's all painted.
