anybody know about diy acuostic panels?

our small school has a lunchroom that has block walls. it is very noisy w/ the kids in there. are there any type of diy panel that can be hung near the walls to reduce the noise? I have seen some on internet made of 2x4 frame with insulation batting and then covered w/ material. any ideas?? thanks

If you can locate homasote panels, they can be covered with a fabric such as burlap and either hung with or without a frame. Homasote is quite often used as bulletin boards and comes in 3/4" thickness 4x8 sheets. It would probably take kid punishment better than softer materials.
