Drywall is rubbing against hot water pipe, Help

The problem is that we hung the drywall to the ceiling
and now that the ceiling has been textured, we realized
that the hot water pipe leading to the washer is totally resting on the drywall. the water is only running at 140degrees. Do I need to be worried about fire?
Thank You

The drywall will be able to handle the temperature you refer to. Also it will only be at 140* a limited time while the washer is in use. You could also turn down the temperature of the hot water tank. Remember where the pipes are. If you should ever have to put a screw or nail into the ceiling you run the risk of puncturing it. Another concern will come next summer. If this is a basement area you may experience condensation on the water pipes which will stain the drywall. This will be an undisirable reminder of where the water pipe is. Best of luck.

Thumbs up

Thanks allan,
Most drywall specialists that I've spoken to agree that the pipe temperature would have to be a consistant 200+degrees
to create the chance of fire.
thanks/happy Holidays
