This may sound like a stupid question but I'm about to hang drywall where I have electrical receptacles. With the metal boxes for the receptacles sitting about a half-inch 'proud' of the framing (to leave the boxes flush witht he finished drywall), how do I hang the uncut drywall without it bulging around the box? Or is this the correct method, with the drywall then settling, once the hole is cut, around the metal box?
Thanks

Drywall
One method:
1. Drywall sheets hung horizontally with the top sheet first then the bottom sheet.
2. After the top sheet, measure the locations of the centers of the receptacle boxes, horizontally from where the end of the bottom sheet will land and vertically from the bottom edge of the top sheet. Write these measurements in pencil on the top sheet above each box.
3. Hang the bottom sheet with screws along the top edge only.
4. Locate the centers of the boxes and cut to the edge, then follow the outside of the box all the way around with a RotoZip to cut out for the boxes.
5. Install the remaining screws.
Method 2:
Hang the top sheet first. Take measurements for the 4 edges of each box and transfer to the bottom sheet. Cut holes with drywall saw or jig saw. Hang the bottom sheet.
The pros will jump in with corrections as needed.

Hold the drywall up in the exact spot it will be installed and press over the boxes - should leave a mark you can use to cut

not a pro or anything, (just a girl really) but i have heard that putting lipstick on the face of the box, then pressing the drywall to the studs, remove, and voilaaa....outline of the box where you need to cut!
