Lightweight comes in boxes. 2 should do depending on how heavy or light you are going. maybe 3

I've always used the buckets of j/c for that type of texture. The boxes aren't available here. Either box or bucket will need to be thinned some, the more you thin it, the lighter the texture will be. The only mud I've ever seen in a bag is the setting compounds and I believe that would be too much trouble to texture with. I like to mix up more texture than I need - that guarantees that all the texture will be consistent. Left over texture can be mixed in with unmixed mud to use for taping and finishing..... just don't add too much if it will make the j/c too thin.

Just FYI they do make joint compound in a bag in powder form. I believe its all purpose and it is for texture. I've used it once and didn't like it at all.
