Remove built in entertainment center for closet
Hey, first off just want to let everyone know this is my first project in my house, so if I begin to ask any stupid questions, just wanna give an early apology. OK so been living in my house for about 15 years and in my room there is a built in entertainment center which i want to get rid of and place a closet there. So just wondering what would be the best approach in removing the built in entertainment center. Any help would be greatly appreciated it! If you also require a picture to get a better idea just let me know.

It depends on if it was stick built or a pre-fab unit. If it is a pre-fab look for screws holding it to the floor or walls. If any remove and slide out from the wall.
If stick built just carefully "destruct" the pieces using, screwdriver, hammer and pry bars.
Yes pictures would help. http://forum.doityourself.com/electr...your-post.html

Hey ray thanks for the prompt response. Here are some picture, Pictures by lakers825 - Photobucket
Also i had another question, do you think it would be better to add some dry wall to the top, where the speakers are, so i can make a closest starting from there by adding the sliding doors from where I would have put the dry wall, where the speakers are.

Once you remove the built in, you'll need to frame up the front wall to accommodate your closet doors. What isn't part of the door opening should be covered up with drywall, finished to blend in with the rest of the wall.
