Trying to match ceiling texture
I'm trying to repair a ceiling crack. I've used mud to fill the crack and am now trying to match the texture. I think they may have used a shag stipple brush but I can't find one anywhere. Anyone know what kind of pattern this is? Thanks.

That is a nice texture and a good job.
Can you give us a sense of scale?
It looks like it was done with some kind of stipple brush then the high points were either knocked down, or more likely, I think, shaved off after the texture was dry.
Use the stipple brush you have and experiment on some scraps and see it you get the effect by knocking down the high points or shaving them off. If you get the effect then all you have to do is adjust the consistency of the mud, get the timing before you knock it down and maybe still find the right brush.
Also remember this: whatever tool was used to do this, the person who did it did it quickly. Keep in mind "how did he do it fast?"
