Transitioning CBB to drywall on an outside corner

The wall containing the plumbing fixtures on my tiling project is a partition separating the tub from the toilet area. It comes out a few inches past the tub, and is 4.5" thick. When I put up the CBB on the tub surround how do I mate it to the drywall on the 4.5" edge wall? Mostly I'm wondering about the metal edge protector on the drywall. The tub surround was tiled, but had drywall all around the tube area, which of course I will be replacing with the CBB, and the outside edges have the metal strip.
Thanks.

A picture might help.

If I am understanding this correctly you should put the backer board on first, and then the drywall should overlap it on the corner. Is your tile going to run out to the corner? IF so you might not even need corner bead. You could just use tear away edge like this: Tear Away

At this point yes the tile will go up to the edge. I may even tile the edge wall as well. The metal corner is already in place on the old DW.I wanted to save the DW on the short wall if possible.I guess I could either try to cut the existing metal strip down along the corner or maybe try to remove it altogether.?

It would likely be a better finish to remove the corner bead and remud it. IMO I would use a plastic corner or tear away. I have seen far too many rust that are close to the bath tub.

That might be the best way, to just try and remove it altogether. Plastic sounds like a good idea, because the old one is sure rusty down low by the floor, next to the tub.
