Closing off doorway

Hello all...first post here.

I am in the midst of closing off a doorway between our kitchen a study. I have cut the hardwood floor back to accommodate the 2x4 footer and I am ready to begin framing. My question is regarding that the metal protective edging that is around the corners of the doorway. Do I need to remove this before putting up the sheetrock, taping and mudding? Or is it OK to leave it be?

TIA for the help!!!

John

Welcome to the forums John!

If you are referring to the corner bead - it needs to be removed. Removal will make finishing the drywall a LOT easier.
