Paint primer needed?
Is the new interior paint with the primer already in it any good? Just trying to skip a step. Thanks.

IMO the primer and paint in one can is more advertising hype than anything else. Raw unpainted drywall needs a primer. Which primer to use is determined by the top coat to be used. Most painted walls/ceilings don't need a primer. Primer is only needed on a repaint when the substrate is raw [unpainted repairs] stained or adhesion is expected to be an issue. There are times/colors where primer might facilitate better coverage.

My opinion here: Primer and paint have different jobs and therefore are made of different ingredients. I cannot see how one product could do both jobs well. To that end, I do not use the all in one products.
Anecdote: A coworker recently bought an older home and came to me after her all in one paint did not look good after two coats. I had her get Zinnser primers and Benjamin Moore paints and she thanked me afterward.

Thanks
Thanks to both marker and mitch17 for your input. I went down and bought two gallons of Benjamin Moore Superior Primer ( on sale even @ $25.00 each) and started priming away.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
