Guess what's in this wall...

I would love to tear down this little wall. I know it's not structural but have no idea why the builders put it there. I was thinking perhaps plumbing ran down but it's just a bedroom directly above it (pics below).

Do you guys think builders just put it there to give a little separation from kitchen/living room? Any other reason?

upstairs directly above that wall

Wouldn't surprise me if it supports a beam spanning the opening between the kitchen and living room (transitioning between the sloped and horizontal ceilings). And it's obviously got juice in it, judging from the wall receptacle.

Turn the breaker off before starting your demo work.

It was most likely put there for eye appeal, breaking the living room from the adjacent room, and as Bridgeman said, the transition from the roof lines. Probably isn't load bearing, but you should check it from below to make sure there are no support members carrying load to footing in that area.
I know you want to remove, it, but it sure makes that division clean and helps to divide the rooms well. Don't forget you will have a floor repair, and if that is laminate...good luck, your call.

***CORRECTION*** the room above it ends right where that mini wall is standing.
