wall tiles: accent strip a different thickness-problem? solutions??

We are putting in a new backsplash as part of a kitchen renovation. My brother in law will be doing most of the installation-he has done 3 in his house.I'll be helping/learning.
The design is simple-"4X4" tiles in an offset (brick?) pattern with an accent strip of "1x1" glass tiles.
(My BIL has not worked with glass tiles before. His experience is with all 4X4 tiles, with some 'accent tiles " of the same size .)

The questions:

The "1x1" tiles are not as thick as the "4X4" tiles. (approx 1/16- 1/8 thinner)-will this be a problem for the grouting, etc.? It looked "OK", when we taped a bunch of tiles to a piece of plywood (just to get an idea).
If we look more closely, and don't like the difference in thickness-is there any way to adjust? (obviously before we put them on the wall!)

Do the glass tiles use the same mastic as the "regular" ceramic tiles? Grout??

Anything else to be aware of before we start to put them on the wall "for real"?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Mike, I think the "relief" of the shallower tiles may even give it a natural shadow line and look perfectly fine. Have you tried grouting your sample? Sure way to tell is set up a dummy installation on plywood using a few pieces of each to see how it works out. You could always pop them off before they dried and clean them up for reuse.

Thanks for the suggestion Larry.
I did that, and with the grout in place, the sample looked fine. Now onto the actual wall.
Thanks again!
Mike.

Very nice looking. You deserve one hefty "Atta-Boy!" The wife owes you, big-time.
