Would like to create a razor blade slot in the back of my existing med cabinet
I just started to shave with a double-edge safety razor and would like to put in a slot in the back of my existing medicine cabinet similar to this one:

The interior wall of my medicine cabinet is wood and the wall behind it is drywall.
What are the minium tools I would need for the job and how would I go about it? Do I need to worry about studs or wires?

A Fien Multi-tool would cut whatever is needed for relatively thin blades (double edge brown Gillette thin blades, blue stainless, or single edge blades) and may even work for Atra or Mach 3 blades if you are good with it.

Seriously? That is what the slot in my medicine cabinet is for? To dump used razor blades into the wall?
EDIT: Yep! Razor blades and old medicine cabinets

Yeah, I've found razor blades in bathroom remodels before. Nothing like getting cut picking up some of those good old rusty blades!
I'd probably drill a 1/4" hole, insert a 1/4" router bit and make a short slot with a little router or laminate trimmer, using a shim / block between the router plate and the bottom of the medicine cabinet to act as a guide, to help you cut straight.

Thanks for the advice! Yes, they still make razor blades...lots cheaper than those 3-4-5 blade cartridge things! Here are the latest and greatest:
Double Edge Safety Razor Blades | West Coast Shaving
This is a big and load-bearing wall so it's got plenty of room before it ever fills up with blades no will it be torn into anytime soon as I own the place and will be here for years.
As luck would have it I meantioned this idea of mine to our Condo handyman and he says he'd be happy to stop by and do it for me this afternoon!
Thanks for the advice!
Give that DE shaving a try....its quite a skill but once you pick it up you'll never go back to cartridges or electric!

Prices of razors can vary as low as $14 for this model or has high as $315 for this one.
Most folks like me have purchased the Murkur 34C or the Edwin Jagger DE89L for about $35-40 depending on vendor.
My favorite set of blades, the Astra Superior Plats, can be had for about $9 for a box of 100. This is much cheaper than buying Mach3 carts.
Yeah the investment is a big larger up front but once you've got a good razor, with care it will last you a lifetime and would be something you can leave to your grandson.
Of course, you could really kick it old school and get a nice vintage Gillette razor via ebay. I've got one from 1957 that I use at it's craftsmanship is much better than the crap they make nowadays. Doubtful any Mach3 or Fusion handle I have now will be still working 50+ years hence.

Geeze you guys sound almost girlie over razors. Schick Disposables and a little Ivory soap lathered between my hands works fine for me. At 2-3 weeks per shaver the cost is reasonable. The cost of those posted would not be. For those prices I'd expect a barber, steak, and baked potato to be included.

Hadn't thought about it but this would probably qualify as a bio-hazard and should maybe be abandoned on that idea alone.
