closing in arched opening
I just need advice on how to fill in this 10' archway?
I want to turn the formal dining room into a bedroom.
so I'm gonna install a door and fill in the rest w/ wall, but i'm kinda stuck on what to do at the archway and/or how to do it?

Welcome to the forums!
You'll need to remove the drywall over the arch and the edges [corner bead] of the opening. Once it's opened up you'll see how the arch was framed. It will either be all framed with dimensional lumber or some plywood may have been used. You can then determine if it makes more sense to remove the arch and reframe or just frame out the opening [bottom and top plate with 2xs on the side - the arch is just a gap that the drywall can span]

I'd just frame it up, 'cause when you go to sell the house you will need to turn it back into an attractive dining room. In building this "bedroom" are you including a closet? How accessible is it to a bathroom? Are you doing it out of necessity (xtra kids) or for aesthetics?

Why does he have to remove the drywall?
