Need Help Copying Texture
My wife and I ripped out the faded pink PLASTIC tile in the bathroom of our new house. We would like to copy the texture which was used in the rest of the house. I attached some pictures which I hope will show it well enough for someone to describe how to copy it. As I hope you can see, most of it is an arch which is between 1/3 and 1/2 a circle and recessed. I have looked at many different pictures on many different sites and have not seen anything like it. Any help you can give will be great. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!
I'd try thinning some joint compound down and then apply it with a drywall knife or maybe a float/trowel. You can either practice on scrap drywall, cardboard, etc or experiment on the wall itself. If you don't like how it comes out it's no big deal to scrape it off while wet or sand it when dry.

try spreading some mud then put your hand in a plastic bag, put it against the wet mud and twist.

Or float the mud using a drywall trowel or steel concrete finishing float with a doubled or tripled thickness of electrician's tape, wrapped around the dragged edge. You can vary the width of the depression it leaves by varying the angle of the stroke used to flatten the mud (twisting it slightly towards the end of the pass to make it narrower). As others have suggested, practice a bit on some scrap surfaces to perfect your technique. Don't get too good at it, or pretty soon all the neighbors will want you to do theirs.

We tried this technique. While it did not give us exactly what we were looking for, my wife really liked the look so we used it. Thanks for your help!
