In my home, I have a 'blossum' or flower like or star like pattern on the ceilings. I need to reproduce it in the basement, and can not figure out how the builder created it in the first place. The pattern is between 8 and 10 inches across and look like a star with very heavy texture (i.e. peaks and valleys are 1/4" to 1/2" diffrent. What should I use to apply the compound? HELP! I want to remove my acoustic textured ceiling but have little knowledge on how to do it properly. I have heard that one can remove it easily by spraying small sections at a time thoroughly with water by way of a hudson sprayer and then scraping. What would one scape with? Is there a better way to do this and what about dusty residue that may continue falling from the 'scraped' ceilng. I've heard people having problems with this messy aftermath. What can I do to prevent this as well? The ceiling in question in my home is coved as well. No sharp corners. Please reply soon.
